Isla Negra
Last Friday the entire Stanford group went to Isla Negra, the main house of Nobel laureate Pablo Neruda (he also had houses in Santiago and Valparaiso). He acquired some of his inspiration for poetry at this beautiful spot, although he only really lived here at the end of his life. For many years he traveled the world.
The view of the beach from just behind Neruda's house.
The grave of Neruda and his third wife, Matilde.
View of the house from the beach.
The beach. The tide was coming in when we were there (around midday).
The beach again. It was a very beautiful beach, but too rocky to be conducive to walking on.

How is it you're at the beach while I'm doing midterms? Lucky lucky lucky...
Hey, I may get to go to the beach but I have lots of essays to write as well.
Anyway, this is why you need to go to Berlin. So that spring quarter while I'm slogging through electricity and magnetism, you get to tell me about going beer tasting!
Hello Lauren,
Happy Halloween! I just spoke with your Dad out front and he told me that your family moved into your house twenty years ago today. After you moved in, they dressed you up as a pumpkin and took you trick or treating! Too cute!
Any way, he told me about your blog, so I thought I would check it out. Hope you're having a blast!
